The Lower Laguna Madre
Arroyo City is situated in the middle of the Lower Laguna Madre, surrounded by conservation land. To the North lie the King and Kennedy Ranches which are among the largest private ranches in the country, together compromising well over one million acres between Harlingen and Corpus Christi.
To the east is the Padre Island National Seashore, which is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world, preserving 70 miles of wilderness coastline between Corpus Christi and Port Mansfield. To the west and south lies the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, which preserves an additional 88,000 acres adjacent to Arroyo City.
