Captain John Spencer

Captain John Spencer

Captain John Spencer guided for many years in Colorado before moving to Texas full time in 2003. He loves the ultra shallow backwater lakes on west side where he is as likely to be found chasing ducks as redfish. When he is not fishing, bird hunting or tying flies, he will be with his wife, two children and two yellow labs. John fishes in a Hells Bay Guide 18.

Read John’s reports.

Captain Mark Becerra

Captain Mark Becerra

A San Benito, Texas native, Mark was raised fishing the Lower Laguna Madre. When Mark is not fishing, he is the President of the Lower Laguna Madre Fly Tiers and is an avid fly tier to boot.

We fish with Mark despite the fact that he fishes from a Maverick HPX-T. For anyone who loves to wade, Mark also has a Dargel scooter.

Read Mark’s reports.

Captain Dale Fridy

Captain Dale Fridy grew up on Padre Island, where he returned after college in San Marcos and a brief stint as a logger in Oregon. For twelve years, Dale has been the Orvis endorsed guide for the Lower Laguna Madre. Along with redfish, Dale loves chasing snook and trout both in the channels and on the flats.

Dale fishes from a Hells Bay Glades Skiff. When Dale is not fishing with us, he runs The Redfish Inn on South Padre, with his wife, daughter and son.

Captain Jim Blackburn

Captain Jim Blackburn has been a professional fishing guide for over 30 years. He began his career as a river guide in Steamboat Springs, CO in the ‘70’s. Fatigued with Colorado winters, he moved to the Florida Keys and guided there for several winters.
